Inner life for most of us is life inside the conscious mind; there is no other life but that of the mind. We are trapped in our thoughts, our beliefs, our judgments, our ideas, ideals, and ideologies. Addicted to our concepts, abiding by the values instilled in us by "authorities," we refuse to give up what we have in our hands, yet we have nothing at all. We have a bunch of worthless peanuts, and we hold on to them as if they were the most precious stones. Let these peanuts drop and you will be released.
