| Seasons Are Fluid |

seasons are fluid To live within the constant flow of change, one needs to be as flexible as a palm tree in a strong wind. One night on Huene, a remote, untouched island in Papua New Guinea, I was lying beneath a palm tree on the soft, sun-bleached sand. As the evening unfolded, the wind began blowing hard. Suddenly I had a realization. It was the wind that had designed the tree. The entire tree was perfectly shaped to dance with the wind, to make love to it. The tree was flexible and bent willingly to the wind. The huge fronds were cut in many ribbons, allowing the wind to blow through them. The wind could not break the tree, because it had designed it. I have seen people broken by the winds of life. Adversity is part of life for all of us, but being a victim is always a matter of choice. Those who abide by the fourth law of the jungle are never victims. They know that life can be tough at times, and other times it can be pampering, like the waves of a great ocean. |
