| Seasons Are Bountiful |
|
seasons are bountiful, seasons are bleak Life is challenging no matter where you are or who you are. Africa and America are not that far apart, nor are the experiences of the king and the pauper. But many people measure their realities in terms of pain and pleasure. They see the tough times as the thorny stick and good fortune as the sweet fruit. What we all need in life is balance between the stick and the fruit, and the understanding that neither will last. Those who get too much of the stick become harsh people. They are broken, both physically and emotionally. They lose all trust in people and the world. Those who get too much of the fruit come to feel that it is never enough. They get fat and lose their agility and alertness. They believe that the fruit will always be plentiful. And when the fruit is taken from them, as it eventually is, they experience incredible misery. We must accept that we may always get the stick and we may always get the fruit, and eventually both will pass away. Good and bad are relative and extreme. Why be split by the poles? |
