We contemporary human beings, with our remarkable achievements in science and technology, obviously esteem ourselves as the most intelligent species. At least we proclaim this as a fact. But if this is so, how can it be that we never cease to fight with each other, that we destroy our own abundant planet, exterminate its species, exhaust its natural resources, contaminate its seas, and rip holes in its atmosphere?
